  The education section includes information on education in Israel for all ages, from kindergarten to university: the structure of the school system, preparatory university courses for new immigrants, special programs, and assistance to immigrant students.
 
Elementary and secondary education

The Israeli schooling system generally comprises of four stages: preschool, elementary school, middle school, and high school, as well as special education institutions. Most schools and educational institutions are operated by the local authorities, and offer immigrant students various types of assistance to ease their absorption.

Preparatory courses for higher education – Mechinot

A Mechina (plural: Mechinot) is a one-year pre-academic program for immigrant students, held at most of Israel’s universities and designed to orientate the students to Israel’s university environment and study methods, as well as preparing them for university entry exams.

Assistance to university students

The Student Authority at the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption offers a diversity of services for students, including counseling and financial assistance through grants, loans and scholarships.
